vCenter VCSA Received too large sftp packet max supported packet size is with WinSCP

Problem:

When trying to login to a vCenter server or VCSA using WinSCP you get and error stating received too large sftp packet max supported packet size is.

vCenter VCSA Received too large sftp packet max supported packet size is with WinSCP

Solution:

This error occurs because because the default shell for the VCSA 6.7 is not bash.

The VMware fix for this recommends changing the shell that the entire VCSA uses from /bin/appliancesh to /bin/bash prior to using WinSCP, then changing it back when you are finished.  Instead you can just change some settings in WinSCP.

Open WinSCP and put in your connection details for your VCSA then click advanced

vCenter VCSA Received too large sftp packet max supported packet size is with WinSCP-2

Click the SFTP tab and copy in the below text:

shell /usr/libexec/sftp-server

vCenter VCSA Received too large sftp packet max supported packet size is with WinSCP-3

Then save the connection settings and you can login
