I’ve tried many times to connect my KODI xbox client, but it hasn’t worked, even though it works flawlessly on my PC and Android client.
I’ve come up with another method for people like me, who can’t get it to work this way:
Use FTP instead of smb.
Most NAS have FTP file sharing. Enable it.
Open KODI on xbox
Add videos>browse>Add Network location>Protocol:FTP server>Server address: Ip of your server>
remote path: a folder in your server, which has your movies (in my case I have them in a main folder called public, so i typed in public)>
port: if you didn’t mess with it in your NAS’s settings, then it’s 21>
username: the username that you use to access your NAS>
password: your NAS password> click OK>ftp://your IP/path comes up in list (IF not, reboot nas and xbox)>click on ftp://>it should open your folder, and you are good to go.
