Problem:
You have added more disk space to a VM using vCenter and then tried to extend the volume in Windows. You get an error stating The parameter is incorrect.
Solution:
Open a command prompt
diskpart list volume
Locate the volume you wish to extend
select volume (number) eg select volume 3
extend filesystem
Now Windows will report the correct partition/volume size
