You may want to receive email alerts about certain events within your AWS environment. To do this you will need to create an SNS or Simple Notification Service Subscription which we will go through in this post.
1. Login to AWS Console and open SNS
2. Click Topics and Create New Topic
3. Give the topic a name and a display name
4. Choose email as the Protocol and enter the email address you want to send alerts to as the Endpoint
5. You will have to confirm the subscription by receiving the email (sent to the Endpoint) and clicking confirm. You can resend this by clicking Request confirmations.
6. Once confirmed you can use the subscription to receive alerts for failed email events. Open the SES console
7. Click Email addresses and select the email address you want to receive alerts for.
8. Click Notifications and Edit Configuration
9. Change the drop down options to match the new subscription
