How to safely reboot NetApp nodes in a HA Pair

This is a quick guide on how to safely reboot your nodes on a NetApp FAS system configured as a HA pair.

First login to the NetApp web UI and go to Configuration> Cluster> High Availability

Select the Action drop down from the first node and click Take over node <name of your second node>.  This will then start the process of moving used resources over to node 1 and then reboot node 2.

You will see some messages about node 2 going offline while node 1 is taking over

Notice the green box attached to node 1 that was just around the disks attached to node 1 has now been extended to the disks from node 2

Node 2 starts to come back online

Node 1 starts to give back some responsibility to node 2

You can now start the process again but from node 2

Go to Network> Network Interface and Send home and interfaces that were moved
